MPC-HC + Use madVR Video Renderer

Tutorial on how to setup the MPC-HC app to use madVR video renderer and how to do the basic madVR configuration.

 

Media Player Classic Home Cinema (MPC-HC) app can b easily configured to use madVR(
Madshi Video renderer). MadVR offers various video processing algorithms which can be used to output good quality videos.

 

 

System Config :

  • OS : Windows 10 Pro x64
  • MPC-HC 1.9.10
  • madVR 0.92.17

 


1. First download and install madVR video renderer

2. Setup MPC-HC to use madVR Video renderer

Open MPC-HC Options windows:

  •  Select View > Options.

 


 

  • Select Playback > Output tab.
  • Select madVR from the drop down list labelled Video renderer.

 


 

 

 

 

3. Configuring madVR video Renderer

 Next you need to do setting in madVR. 

To open madVR Renderer Properties window do the following:

  • Play a video File in MPC-HC.
  • Select Play > Filters > madVR.

 


 

  • Select Edit Settings.




Display device type

  • Select devices > (display device) tab. (In this case the display device is LG Electronics LG Ultra HD).
  • Select the type of display device which is used to output the video under the device type. (In this case the display device type is Digital Monitor / TV).




Display device Calibration

  • Select devices > (display device) > calibration tab. (In this case the display device is LG Electronics LG Ultra HD)
  • Select option this display is already calibrated.
  • Select BT.2020 in the drop down menu labelled the display is calibrated t the following primaries.

 




Set Chroma Upscaling algorithm

  • Select scaling algorithms > chroma upscaling tab.
  • Select Lanczos as shown below.
  • Select 3 taps  from the drop down list.
  • Check the check box labelled activate anti-ringing filter.





Set Image downscaling algorithm

  • Select scaling algorithms > image downscaling tab.
  • Select Cubic  under the label processing done by custom pixel shader code.
  • Select Bicubic125  from the drop down list.
  • Check the check box labelled scale in linear light.
  • Check the check box labelled activate anti-ringing filter.





Set Image upscaling algorithm

  • Select scaling algorithms > image upscaling tab.
  • Select Lanczos  under the label upscaling.
  • Select 4 taps  from the drop down list.
  • Check the check box labelled activate anti-ringing filter.
  • Check the check box labelled scale in sigmoidal light.





Smooth motion setting

  • Select rendering > smooth motion
  • Enable option labelled Enable smooth motion frame rate conversion
