How to generate thumbnails of videos in Media Player Classic - BE (MPC-BE)

Media Player Classic - Black Edition  has a feature to generate thumbnails of a video file.

Thumbnails can be useful in previewing the content of a video file. 


System Config:


To generate the thumbnail images of a video file do the followings:

  • Play the video file with MPC-BE.
  • Select File > Save Thumbnails.

  • Click Save.


  • Thumbnails preview of video file generated.





Saving thumbnail as JPG file

When saving the thumbnail as JPG file there are some options you  can set manually.

  • Quality -  Refers to the quality of image file after compression. 
  • Layout Rows : Number of rows of thumbnails.
  • Layout Columns : Number of columns of thumbnail.
  • Number of rows and columns decide how many thumbnails will be generated. 4 rows and 4 columns will generate 4 multiplied by 4 which equals 16 thumbnails.
  • Image width Pixels : Set the image width in pixels.


Saving thumbnail as PNG file

 When saving the thumbnail as PNG file there are some options you  can set manually.
  • Quality  Compression -  Refers to the level of compression used .  The higher the level of compression the lesser the size of image file.
  • Layout Rows : Number of rows of thumbnails
  • Layout Columns : Number of columns of thumbnail
  • Number of rows and columns decide how many thumbnails will be generated. 4 rows and 4 columns will generate 4 multiplied by 4 which equals 16 thumbnails.
  • Image width Pixels : Set the image width in pixels.
