MPC-HC Player tab Settings Guide

Guide for various Player tab setting available in Media Player Classic Home Cinema (MPC-HC) options window.

Player tab Settings

Open options

Use the same player for each media file :   When a media files are opened using File Explorer for playback in MPC-HC, each media file is played in the same MPC-HC player. When multiple media files are opened for playback with MPC-HC at once, the media files are added to the playlist for playback.


Open a new player for each media file played :  When a media files are opened using File Explorer for playback in MPC-HC, each media file is played in a new MPC-HC player instance. When multiple media files are opened for playback with MPC-HC at once, each media file is played in a new window of MPC-HC app .


 


 

Language : Here user can set the language which will be used MPC-HC interface.


 


Title bar

 

 


Display full path :  The MPC-HC title bar will show the full path of the media file which is currently being played.


File name only : The MPC-HC title bar will show the filename of the media file which is currently being played. 

 


 


Don't prefix anything : The MPC-HC title bar will show the filename of the media file which is currently being played.


Replace file name with title : When this option is checked, MPC-HC app will show title of the media file instead of its Filename.



Other

 


 

Tray icon : When this option is checked, MPC-HC icon will be shown in the Notification bar. MPC-HC app window will minimize to system tray.

 

Show OSD :  

  • Checked : OSD messages will be shown in the MPC-HC video screen.
  • Unchecked : OSD messages will not be shown in the MPC-HC video screen.

 On screen Display (OSD) shows basic messages related to playback in the video screen.

 

Limit window proportions on resize : When this option is checked, MPC-HC app window resizes in proportion to the original resolution ( width and height) of the video file.

 

Snap to desktop edges : When this option is checked, MPC-HC app window will snap to the edge of the desktop when the app is brought close the desktop edge..

 

Disable Open Disc menu :  When this option is checked, MPC-HC app will not show File > Open disc menu.


Process priority above normal :  When this option is checked, MPC-HC app will run with CPU process priority set to above normal.


Enable cover-art support :   

  • Checked :  MPC-HC will support showing the cover-art embedded in the media file.
  • Unchecked : MPC-HC will not support showing the cover-art embedded in the media file.

 


History



Keep history of recently opened files :  When this option is checked, MPC-HC app will store the list of recently played media files. The list of recently played media files is listed in File > Recent files menu.


Remember last playlist :  When this option is checked, MPC-HC app will remember the media file listed in the playlist when the app is exits. The next time when MPC-HC app is opened the playlist is restored.


Remember File position : When this option is checked, MPC-HC will remember the position at which the playback of the media file is stopped. When the same media file is opened with MPC-HC the next time, the playback start from the position where it was stopped last time.

 

Remember DVD position : When this option is checked, MPC-HC will remember the position at which the playback of the media file in the DVD disc is stopped. When the same media file is opened with MPC-HC the next time, the playback start from the position where it was stopped last time.

 

Remember last window position : When this option is checked, MPC-HC app will remember the position of its window when the app exits. The next time when the MPC-HC app is opened, its window is positioned to the remembered location.

 

Remember last window size : When this option is checked, MPC-HC app will remember the its window size when the app exits. The next time when the MPC-HC app is opened, the app window size will be equal to the remembered window size.

 

Remember last Pan & Scan Zoom : When this option is checked, MPC-HC app will remember the Pan & Scan zoom setting done by the user when the app exits. The next time when the MPC-HC app is opened, the app will use the same zoom setting.

 

 

Formats tab Setting

 

 


Set as default program : This button can be used to set MPC-HC app as the default program from media files in Windows OS

 

Run as administrator :  To associate media files to open with MPC-HC in Windows OS the app requires administrator rights. Run as administrator button is used to open new Options window with administrator level access. 

It can be used 

  • To associate video and/or audio files to open with MPC-HC app.
  • Add MPC-HC to Explorer context menu.
  • To add MPC-HC app to autoplay

 

 

 


 

Associate video and audio formats with MPC-HC 

To associate MPC-HC app with video and audio formats select the   button. Select Apply button.

 

Associate audio formats with MPC-HC 

To associate MPC-HC app with audio formats select the button. Select Apply button.

 

Associate video formats with MPC-HC 

To associate MPC-HC app with video formats select the   button. Select Apply button.

 

Clear MPC-HC app association with video and audio formats

To clear MPC-HC app association with video and audio formats select the   button. Select Apply button.

Use the format-specific icons

  • Checked : MPC-HC will associate icons specific to the file format of the media file.
  • Unchecked :  MPC-HC will associate only one icon with all media file formats.

 

 

Explorer Context Menu

MPC-HC app can be added to the File Explorer Context Menu. It can be used to open media files with MPC-HC app using context menu.

 


 

 

 

Directory : When this option is checked, MPC-HC app will be shown in directory(Folder) context menu.

Files : When this option is checked, MPC-HC app will be shown in context menu of Media files.

 

 

Autoplay

Autoplay is used to automatically played media files in the external storage media.

 



Keys tab Settings

Player > Keys tab list all the MPC-HC commands that can be executed using keyboard shortcuts or mouse buttons.




Keyboard shortcuts : By default certain keyboard shortcuts is assigned for various commands.

User can edit, add or remove the keyboard shortcuts assigned to certain commands. To do so user need to double click on on the space provided for keys




Mouse operated commands (windowed mode)

When MPC-HC app is in windowed mode, mouse button or wheel actions can be used to execute certain command. 

Mouse Windowed column can be used to setup mouse actions for a selected commands.

 


With setup as shown in the image above, Mouse wheel Up action is used to execute command Volume Up when MPC-HC app window is in windowed mode.

 

List of Mouse buttons and wheel actions supported in MPC-HC:

 


 

 

Mouse modifier + Mouse action operated commands (windowed mode)

When MPC-HC app is in windowed mode, Mouse actions together with Mouse modifier can be used to execute certain command in MPC-HC.

Ctrl,Shift and Alt keyboard button can be used as Mouse modifier.


 


With setup as shown in the image above, Ctrl + Wheel Up can be used to execute command Jump Forward(large) when MPC-HC app window is in Windowed mode.

 

 

Mouse operated commands (Fullscreen mode)

When MPC-HC app is in fullscreen mode, mouse actions settings done in Mouse Fullscreen column can be used to execute certain command in MPC-HC.

 


 

With setup as shown in the image above, Wheel down can be used to execute command Volume down when MPC-HC app window is in fullscreen mode.

 

 

Mouse modifier + Mouse action operated commands (Fullscreen mode)

When MPC-HC app is in fullscreen mode, mouse fodifier settings done in mouse actions settings done in Mouse Fullscreen column can be used to execute certain command in MPC-HC.

 

 


 

 With setup as shown in the image above, Shift + Wheel down can be used to execute command Volume down when MPC-HC app window is in fullscreen mode.

 

 

Logo tab Settings

 Here user can set the logo for MPC-HC app.

 

Internal

To use internal logos select the radio button labelled Internal, and use the spin control to select a logo which will be shown.

 

 

 

 

External

User can also setup external logo to be shown in MPC-HC app.

To use external logos 

  • Select the radio button labelled External.
  • Select browse button.
  • Select a logo file using File Explorer.

 

 



 

Web Interface tab settings

Web interface settings can be used to setup MPC-HC app to be operated using a web browser.



 

 Listen on port

  • Checked :  MPC-HC will enable web interface and listen to specified port number.
  • Unchecked : MPC-HC web interface will be disabled.

 

Enable compression :  When this option is checked, compression will be used to transfer data between MPC-HC and web interface.

 

Allow access from localhost only :

  • Checked : MPC-HC app will allow Web interface access only from localhost.
  • Unchecked :  MPC-HC app will allow Web interface access from any IP address.

 

Enable preview : When this option is checked, MPC-HC will support showing preview of the media file.
